This is a very informative book that provides great insight into the elements of tour security. Although the book covers a number of required and interesting subjects, it does not go into extreme detail for more advanced levels. I'd like to get some more details regarding specific methods of preparation. Overall, however, I think it serves as a solid guide for anyone interested in learning about the basic methods of tour security.
This is a great book for anyone wishing to see what really goes on behind the scenes on tour. The author covers every aspect of tour security and what it takes to be a successful Security Coordinator or Close Protection Contractor. I highly suggest reading this if you are interested in protecting high level clients.
This is an informative book that provides solid insight into the details of tour security. I think it serves best as a guide for those interested in learning about the methods of tour security. I have had the opportunity to work with the author and can attest first hand that he practices what he wrote in his book. While the book is about the basics of tour security, it serves as a great start for those interested in getting into this field or have general questions about what tour security is all about. Working in this field, I appreciate the author taking the time to put this into a book as there is little to nothing in the way of literature about what we do and the basics of how we do it. It is a must read for all my new hires!
Having worked with the author on multiple occasions, I can clearly see his vision and ideals clearly laid out in an easy to understand manual of sorts. The kind of knowledge that Mr. Fox is revealing in this book was gained by being in the middle of it all for many years. He has seen it all, done it all and has very successfully explained it all. This stuff is gold.
A great book to read with insight from a man at the top of his game. Points you in the right direction to get started working in the industry, as Todd says in the book try to get work with a security company who deal with events as this is invaluable as a starting point and meeting the people who work on the circuit already! as you never know where your next offer will come from. On a final note some people will may not like the idea of this book I'm sure, but it give you the starting points and where to look......Read the book, look into the training and then start your career. Only the strong survive!
Todd Fox has hit the bullseye with All Access. If you are serious about the security industry this is a must read.
All Access is a concise and well organized introduction to the complexities of entertainment security, which provides a window into the usually invisible apparatus that supports and enables high profile celebrities and ensures their saftey. While my background and interest is in museum and fine arts security, I found the methods and philosophy contained in this primer both edifying and accessible. While it can be initially read in an evening, the author has also included detailed information regarding venue, and tour bus layouts, industry terminology, business structure, tactics, and methods to an extent that I would expect this to be a crucial reference for anyone entering the business, or those hoping to advance within it. This is precisely the type of training manual or guidebook that one often lacks when working in an unconventional setting and the author has done those individuals a great service by offering hard won information in a compressed and clear format. An interesting selection of quotes helps to define the philosophical perspective imparted, keeps the material engaging, and enriches the book with an unusual depth for this type of resource.
Todd Fox, relying on 20+ years of hands on experience, has written the seminal book on how to become an elite tour security professional. Even more than this he gives invaluable insights into the psychology of managing all aspects of protection for the world's most famous musicians, actors and actresses. In addition to outlining the mechanical aspects of providing foundational security he further defines the term to include the personal elements necessary to develop long term client relationships. A great read.
This book to me offers an amazing blueprint of the day to day operations of touring. It gives you a behind the curtian look at all aspects of the security industry as a whole. After working for over 12 years in this business I can say after reading this book that it would serve you well.
